Possible Causes
Tripped breaker, Blown internal fuse, Open service switch, Loose line voltage connection, Failed transformer with no 24V
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You are working with line voltage. Turn off the breaker before opening any electrical covers.
- Check breaker and switch: Verify the furnace breaker in the electrical panel is ON. Locate the furnace service switch (often on or near the unit) and ensure it is ON.
- Inspect door switch: Ensure the blower door is properly installed and depressing the door safety switch.
- Check internal fuse: Remove the blower door and inspect the low-voltage fuse on the control board. Replace if blown, but investigate for shorts if it blows again.
- Transformer output: With power on and caution, measure 24 VAC at the transformer secondary. If there is no 24V and primary power is present, replace the transformer.
- When to call a pro: If line voltage is present but the control board remains dead, the board may be failed and should be replaced by a technician.
