Possible Causes
Dirty filter, dirty blower wheel, undersized or crushed ductwork, closed dampers, dirty evaporator coil, blower running at too low speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before cleaning blower or coil.
- Replace filter: Install a clean filter and recheck airflow.
- Inspect blower wheel: Remove blower assembly and clean dust buildup from blades with a brush and vacuum.
- Check ducts and dampers: Look for crushed flex duct, closed dampers, or disconnected ducts in the attic or basement.
- Inspect evaporator coil: If accessible, visually inspect the A-coil above the furnace. Clean if clogged.
- Adjust blower speed: On PSC motors, move to a higher speed tap for heating per the wiring diagram, if allowed by the manufacturer.
