Condensate drain repeatedly blocks or overflows

• Step 1 – Verify slope: Ensure the condensate line slopes continuously downward from the furnace to the drain.
• Step 2 – Shorten or support runs: Avoid long, sagging horizontal sections where water can pool. Add supports or reroute.
• Step 3 – Regular cleaning: Implement a maintenance schedule to clean the Protherm condensate trap at least annually.
• Step 4 – Neutralizer (if needed): Install or service a condensate neutralizer if local codes require it and it is clogged.
