Blocked condensate trap on Protherm condensing furnace, Cracked condensate hose, Leaking internal heat exchanger, Loose drain connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power. Avoid contact with electrical parts when water is present.
- Step 1 – Identify water source: Remove the front panel and look for water trails. Check the condensate trap and hoses first.
- Step 2 – Clean trap and hoses: Remove the condensate trap, flush it with clean water, and clear any debris. Refit securely. Replace any cracked hoses.
- Step 3 – Check external drain: Ensure the drain line from the furnace to the building drain is not blocked or frozen.
- Step 4 – Heat exchanger inspection: If water appears to come from the heat exchanger body, a technician must inspect for cracks and may need to replace the exchanger.
