Possible Causes

Seized circulation pump, Airlock in pump or system, Closed isolation valves, Blocked system filter or sludge in pipework

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Allow the system to cool. Isolate power before removing pump covers. Water may be hot and under pressure.

User checks:

  • Listen for pump operation when the furnace calls for heat. A loud humming with no water movement suggests a seized pump.
  • Ensure any visible isolation valves near the furnace are in the open position.

Technician checks:

  • Bleed air from the pump via the bleed screw (if fitted) and check for free rotation of the pump shaft.
  • Test electrical supply to the pump and measure current draw.
  • Inspect and clean system filters and strainers.
  • Power-flush or chemically clean the system if heavy sludge is present.

Persistent E10 usually requires pump replacement or system cleaning.
