Possible Causes
Defective fan (combustion blower) tachometer, Loose fan connector, Faulty fan speed control on PCB, Obstructed fan wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and gas. Moving parts and sharp edges present a hazard.
- Inspect fan: Remove the combustion chamber cover and visually inspect the fan wheel for dirt, debris, or damage. Clean carefully if dirty.
- Check wiring: Ensure the multi-pin connector to the fan is fully seated and the wires are not damaged.
- Spin test: With power off, gently rotate the fan wheel by hand. It should spin freely without scraping.
- Speed feedback test: A technician can monitor the fan tachometer signal at the PCB during operation to confirm correct feedback.
- Replace fan or PCB: If the tachometer signal is missing or unstable, replace the fan assembly. If the fan is good but control is faulty, replace the main control PCB.
