Possible Causes
Closed gas shutoff valve, Extinguished gas supply, Failed hot surface ignitor, Faulty gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before opening burner compartments. If you smell gas, evacuate and call the gas company.
- Check thermostat mode: Ensure the thermostat is in HEAT mode and not set to FAN ONLY.
- Verify gas supply: Confirm the manual gas shutoff valve near the furnace is open and other gas appliances work.
- Observe ignition: Through the sight glass, watch for the ignitor glowing and burners lighting when there is a call for heat. If the ignitor never glows, test and replace it if open. If it glows but burners never light, suspect the gas valve or gas supply.
- Check error LED: Look at the control board LED for any stored fault codes that can guide further diagnosis.
If you are not comfortable working with gas components, contact a qualified HVAC technician.
