Possible Causes
Incorrect electrode gap or position, Weak ignition transformer, Dirty combustion head or blocked air slots, Faulty or misaligned photocell
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the oil valve. Wait for the burner to cool.
Steps:
- Inspect and adjust electrodes: Remove the burner and access the electrode assembly. Clean electrodes with fine abrasive. Set the gap and projection according to the Riello service manual for your burner model.
- Clean combustion head: Remove soot and debris from the head, diffuser disk, and air slots. Ensure the head is correctly positioned on the blast tube.
- Check ignition transformer: Inspect for cracks, oil leakage, or burnt smell. Verify tight high-voltage connections. If spark is weak or intermittent, the transformer may need replacement.
- Verify photocell alignment: Ensure the flame sensor has a clear line of sight to the flame area and is fully seated in its holder.
If A06 continues, professional testing of ignition voltage and combustion setup is recommended.
