Furnace trips the household circuit breaker when burner starts

Possible Causes

Shorted ignition transformer, Shorted fan motor windings, Damaged wiring harness, Incorrect fuse or breaker size

Safety: Leave the breaker off until the fault is found. Do not replace with a larger breaker.

Steps:

Inspect wiring: Look for burned, pinched, or exposed wires around the Riello burner and furnace.
Isolate components: Disconnect the ignition transformer and try powering the system (without attempting to fire) to see if the breaker holds. Repeat with fan motor disconnected to isolate the fault.
Replace faulty component: Replace the component that causes the breaker to trip when connected.
