How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before inspecting flame sensor and burners.
Steps:
- Remove and inspect the flame sensor for cracks in the ceramic insulator or signs of the rod touching metal. Replace if damaged.
- Check the flame sensor wire for insulation damage or pinched spots where it could short to the furnace chassis. Repair or replace as needed.
- Inspect the burner compartment for signs of water intrusion or condensation. Correct any venting issues causing moisture.
- If the sensor and wiring are good, the control board's flame detection circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
Note: This fault is less common; if unsure, have a technician verify with a microamp meter on the flame sensor circuit.
