Possible Causes
Oversized furnace relative to ductwork, dirty filter, closed registers, blower speed set too low on Tappan control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before changing blower speed taps.
Steps:
- Replace or clean the air filter.
- Open all supply and return registers fully.
- Check the blower speed tap used for heating on the control board (refer to the wiring diagram). If set to a low speed, consult the installation manual and move to a higher speed tap to increase airflow.
- If short cycling persists, have a technician measure temperature rise and static pressure to determine if the furnace is oversized or ducts are undersized.
