Possible Causes
Faulty pressure switch, Weak inducer on Tempstar furnace, Loose wiring to gas valve, Faulty control board timing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before testing components.
- Step 1 – Observe sequence: Note exactly what happens: inducer starts, then what? Does the ignitor glow? Does the gas valve click?
- Step 2 – Test pressure switch: Verify that the pressure switch closes when the inducer runs. Replace if it fails to close despite proper draft.
- Step 3 – Check gas valve wiring: Ensure the wires to the Tempstar gas valve are tight and not corroded.
- Step 4 – Inspect control board: If the board does not send power to the ignitor or gas valve at the correct time, it may be defective and require replacement.
