Possible Causes

Blocked flue or vent pipe, Faulty pressure switch, Cracked or disconnected pressure switch tubing, Weak or failing inducer motor assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn off power to the furnace before working inside the cabinet. Do not operate the furnace with venting disconnected.

This code indicates the pressure switch did not close when the inducer started.

  • Inspect venting: Follow the PVC or metal vent pipe from the Thermo Pride furnace to the termination. Look for sagging, water accumulation, bird nests, leaves, or ice blockage. Clear any obstructions.
  • Check condensate drain (if condensing model): Ensure the condensate trap and hoses are not clogged, kinked, or frozen. Clean the trap and flush with warm water.
  • Inspect pressure switch tubing: Remove the small rubber or silicone tube from the pressure switch and inducer port. Check for cracks, moisture, or debris. Blow through the tube to clear it and reinstall securely.
  • Test pressure switch: With power off, disconnect the wires and check continuity across the pressure switch terminals while the inducer is running (requires advanced skill and caution). If it never closes under proper draft, replace the pressure switch with a Thermo Pride-approved part.
  • Check inducer motor: Listen for unusual noise or slow start. If the inducer wheel is obstructed or the motor is weak, the switch may not close.

When to call a professional: If venting is damaged, if the pressure switch repeatedly fails to close, or if you are not comfortable testing live circuits, contact a licensed HVAC technician.
