Possible Causes
Dirty flame sensor, Poor burner ground, Loose flame sensor wire, Faulty Thermo Pride control board flame circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power and gas before removing the flame sensor.
- Clean flame sensor: Remove the sensor and gently clean the metal rod with fine steel wool until shiny. Reinstall and reconnect the wire.
- Check ground connections: Ensure the burner assembly and control board ground wires are tight and free of corrosion.
- Inspect sensor wire: Look for cracks, burns, or loose spade connectors. Replace if damaged.
- Observe operation: Restore power and gas, then call for heat. If the flame still drops out after a few seconds, a technician should test the microamp flame signal and board.
