Possible Causes
Defective flue gas fan tachometer sensor, Blocked or stiff fan impeller, Broken fan speed feedback wire, Faulty fan control circuit on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before touching the fan or wiring.
- Spin test: Remove the fan cover and gently spin the fan wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If stiff, replace the fan assembly.
- Clean fan: Remove dust and soot from the fan blades and housing with a soft brush and vacuum. A heavily imbalanced fan can cause speed errors.
- Check tachometer wiring: Identify the tachometer (speed feedback) wires from the fan to the control board. Inspect for damage and ensure connectors are fully seated.
- Fan replacement: If the fan does not reach the required speed or the tachometer signal is absent, replace the complete flue gas fan unit with a Viadrus‑approved part.
