Possible Causes

Failed ECM blower motor module, Open blower windings on PSC motor, Defective blower run capacitor (PSC), Loose blower harness at IFC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and service switch. Blower compartment edges can be sharp; wear gloves.

Steps:

  • Remove the blower compartment door and locate the indoor blower assembly.
  • Check the blower motor harness plug at the IFC and at the motor for secure connection.
  • For PSC motors: Inspect the run capacitor (metal can) for bulging or leaking. Replace with the same µF rating and voltage if defective.
  • Try spinning the blower wheel by hand; it should rotate freely. If seized or very stiff, the motor bearings may have failed.
  • Restore power and call for fan-only at the thermostat. If the motor hums but does not start, suspect a bad capacitor or motor.
  • If your Westinghouse furnace uses an ECM motor and F02 persists, the ECM module or motor assembly likely needs replacement.
