Possible Causes
Failed draft inducer motor, Seized inducer wheel, Open inducer winding, Faulty inducer relay on IFC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas. Inducer area may be hot.
Steps:
- Access the inducer assembly at the top/front of the heat exchanger section.
- Check the inducer wiring harness and plug for secure connection and signs of overheating.
- Spin the inducer wheel by hand; if it is stuck or scraping, the motor or wheel is failing and the inducer assembly should be replaced.
- With power ON and a call for heat, carefully check for 120 V at the inducer motor leads (only if you are trained to work with live voltage). If voltage is present but the motor does not run, replace the inducer assembly.
- If no voltage is present at the motor but the board is calling for heat, the IFC inducer relay may be defective.
Note: Inducer replacement usually requires new gasket and proper sealing of the flue connection.
