Possible Causes

Intermittent gas valve coil, Dirty burners causing unstable flame, Poor ground connection to burner assembly, Faulty flame rectification circuit on Wolf control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and shut off gas before servicing. Use caution around sharp sheet metal.

  • Inspect burner assembly: Remove the burner compartment door. Check Wolf burner tubes for rust, debris, or misalignment. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum. Ensure all burners are properly seated and aligned with the manifold.
  • Check ground connections: Locate the ground wire from the control board to the burner rack or chassis. Remove and clean the contact surfaces with emery cloth, then reattach firmly. A poor ground can cause flame sensing issues.
  • Observe flame: Restore power and gas. Watch the flame through the sight glass. Flames should be steady, mostly blue, and should not lift off the burners. If flames are lifting or blowing out, there may be a combustion air or gas pressure issue that requires a professional.
  • Gas valve check: If the flame drops out randomly and E02 appears, the Wolf gas valve assembly may have an intermittent coil. This should be tested with a manometer and multimeter by a licensed technician and replaced if defective.
