Possible Causes
Open gas valve coil, Loose gas valve wiring connector, Faulty gas valve relay on Wolf control board, Safety lockout due to repeated ignition failures
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power. Only qualified personnel should work directly on gas valves.
- Check lockout: Turn off power to the furnace for 30 seconds to clear any soft lockout. Restore power and call for heat. If E11 returns immediately, continue diagnosis.
- Wiring inspection: Verify the gas valve harness is firmly connected at both the valve and the control board. Look for damaged insulation or burn marks.
- Coil resistance: With power off and wires disconnected, measure resistance across the gas valve terminals. Compare to Wolf specifications. An open or shorted coil indicates a failed gas valve.
- Control output: A technician can check for 24VAC at the gas valve during ignition. If no voltage is present and all safeties are closed, the Wolf control board gas valve relay may be defective and require replacement.
