Possible Causes
Undersized ductwork causing high temperature rise, Blower speed set too low, Dirty filter or coil (if used with AC), Faulty temperature sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before adjusting blower speed taps or accessing internal components.
- Airflow basics: Replace or clean the furnace filter. Ensure all registers and returns are open.
- Blower speed: On PSC blower motors, verify the correct speed tap is connected to HEAT on the Wolf control board. Increasing blower speed can reduce temperature rise. For ECM motors, a technician can adjust airflow settings via the control.
- Coil cleanliness: If the furnace is installed with an evaporator coil, inspect the coil for dirt and blockage. A dirty coil restricts airflow and increases temperature rise.
- Sensor check: Verify supply and return sensors are properly mounted and reading correctly. Replace any suspect Wolf temperature sensors.
