Radiators upstairs get hot but downstairs remain cold.

Possible Causes

Sludge build-up in lower circuits, Incorrectly balanced radiators, Pump not powerful enough or set too low, Air trapped in downstairs pipework

Safety first: Allow radiators to cool before adjusting valves.

Bleed downstairs radiators: Remove any trapped air and top up system pressure afterwards.
Balance radiators: Slightly close lockshield valves on radiators that heat quickly (usually upstairs) to force more flow to cooler radiators.
Engineer assistance: If balancing does not help, an engineer should check for sludge, clean filters, and possibly powerflush the system.
