Possible Causes

Failed Worcester fan speed sensor, fan motor fault, wiring issue between fan and PCB, control board fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power. Fan and flue components are part of the combustion circuit and must only be serviced by qualified engineers.

Homeowner checks:

  • Check that the flue terminal is not obstructed.
  • Reset the boiler once and listen for the fan starting. If it does not run or is very noisy, stop and call an engineer.

Engineer checks:

  • Measure supply voltage to the fan and verify correct polarity.
  • Check the fan speed feedback (Hall sensor) signal at the PCB.
  • Inspect the fan for mechanical obstruction or bearing failure; replace the Worcester fan assembly if defective.
  • If fan and wiring are sound, test/replace the control PCB.

Because fan speed is critical to safe combustion, this repair is rated difficult and should not be DIY.
