Possible Causes
Stuck external switch, shorted wall control wiring, neighbor using same code on older fixed‑code systems, water‑damaged keypad or switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Until resolved, disconnect power to the opener when you are away to prevent unintended access.
- Step 1 – Inspect wall control and accessories: Disconnect the wall button and any external key switches at the opener terminals. If phantom operation stops, the issue is in the external wiring or device.
- Step 2 – Check for moisture: Inspect outdoor keypads and switches for water ingress. Replace any that are wet or corroded.
- Step 3 – Re‑code remotes (older systems): On older B&D fixed‑code systems, change the DIP switch settings on remotes and receiver to a new, unique code.
- Step 4 – Clear and re‑learn remotes (rolling code): Erase all remotes from the opener memory and re‑program only your own devices.
