Possible Causes

Shorted wall button, damaged low‑voltage wall control cable, miswired wall control terminals, failed logic board wall control input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the B&D opener at the outlet or circuit breaker before touching any wiring. Do not work on the door springs or lifting hardware.

  • Step 1 – Power cycle: Unplug the opener for 60 seconds, then plug it back in. Check if E1 clears and the unit responds to the wall button.
  • Step 2 – Isolate the wall button: Remove the wall control from the wall. Disconnect the two low‑voltage wires from the back of the wall button and temporarily twist them together. If the opener now runs, the wall button is faulty and should be replaced.
  • Step 3 – Test cable continuity: With power still OFF, remove the two wall control wires from the opener’s terminal block (usually marked PB, WALL, or PUSH). Inspect for crushed insulation, staples through the cable, or corrosion. Temporarily connect a short test wire directly between the wall button terminals at the opener. If the opener works with the test wire, the original cable is damaged and must be replaced.
  • Step 4 – Check terminal screws: Ensure the wall control wires are firmly clamped in the correct terminals and not shorting to adjacent terminals.
  • Step 5 – Logic board check: If a known‑good wall button and test wire do not restore operation, the wall control input on the control board is likely failed. At this point, contact a technician to confirm and replace the control board.
