Possible Causes
Incorrect limit setting procedure, door travel exceeding opener stroke, obstruction during learn cycle, faulty limit switch input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of the door path during limit programming. Do not stand under the door.
- Step 1 – Reset limits: Perform a full factory reset of travel limits according to the B&D manual (often by holding SET or LIMIT buttons for several seconds until LEDs flash).
- Step 2 – Check door travel range: Ensure the door can fully open and close manually without hitting stops or the opener carriage. Adjust physical stops or track hardware if the opener is trying to drive beyond the door’s mechanical limits.
- Step 3 – Remove obstructions: During the learn cycle, make sure nothing is in the way of the door and that the safety beams are aligned so the door can close fully.
- Step 4 – Re‑run learn cycle: Follow the exact button sequence and timing in the B&D instructions to set open and close positions. Allow the opener to run the door through a complete cycle without interruption.
- Step 5 – Check limit inputs: If E11 recurs, the internal limit switch or sensor input on the control board may be faulty. A technician may need to replace the limit sensor assembly or control board.
