Possible Causes
Shorted low‑voltage terminals, incorrect accessory wiring, reversed polarity on safety beams, loose terminal screws
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before touching any wiring. Incorrect wiring can damage the control board.
- Step 1 – Compare wiring to manual: Using the B&D installation guide, verify each wire is landed on the correct terminal (PB, SAFE, +/‑, etc.). Correct any mis‑wiring.
- Step 2 – Look for shorts: Inspect the terminal block for stray wire strands touching adjacent terminals. Trim and re‑terminate wires as needed.
- Step 3 – Disconnect accessories: Remove all accessory wires from the terminal block, leaving only the minimum required (e.g., safety beams). Restore power and see if E12 clears. Reconnect devices one at a time to find the faulty circuit.
- Step 4 – Check beam polarity: Ensure the + and – wires to the B&D safety beams are not reversed. Many models are polarity‑sensitive.
- Step 5 – Board damage check: If E12 persists with all external wiring removed, the terminal block or input circuitry on the control board may be damaged and require replacement.
