Possible Causes
Worn limit potentiometer or sensor, loose limit cam, slipping drive sprocket on shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of moving parts while adjusting limits.
- Step 1 – Re‑set limits: Follow the B&D instructions to re‑set open and close limits. Observe whether the door consistently stops at the same positions.
- Step 2 – Inspect limit mechanism: With power off and cover removed, locate the limit sensor or cams. Ensure cams are tight on the shaft and that the sensor is firmly mounted.
- Step 3 – Check for slippage: Mark the position of the drive sprocket and shaft. Run the door and see if the marks move relative to each other. If they do, tighten the sprocket or replace worn keys/pins.
- Step 4 – Replace limit sensor: If limits cannot be set reliably, replace the limit sensor or potentiometer assembly with the correct B&D part.
