Possible Causes
Worn metal rollers, dry hinges, loose track brackets, chain too loose or too tight, worn rail joints
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not place fingers between door sections or near rollers while the door is moving.
- Step 1 – Tighten hardware: With the door closed, tighten all hinge screws, track bracket bolts, and opener mounting hardware.
- Step 2 – Lubricate moving parts: Apply a silicone‑based or light garage door lubricant to rollers (metal only), hinges, and pivot points. Do not lubricate plastic rollers or the opener belt.
- Step 3 – Adjust chain tension: For chain‑drive B&D units, adjust the chain so it has about 10–15 mm of sag at mid‑span. Over‑tight chains cause noise and wear.
- Step 4 – Inspect rollers: Replace any rollers that wobble, are chipped, or do not spin freely.
- Step 5 – Check rail joints: Ensure any sectional rail joints are tight and aligned to prevent banging as the trolley passes.
