Possible Causes
Open contact on wired safety edge input, Faulty wireless safety edge transmitter/receiver, Miswired STOP or NC safety input on BFT control board, Damaged cable to safety edge device
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not bypass safety edges permanently; they protect against crushing injuries.
- Identify safety inputs: On the BFT control board, locate terminals labeled STOP, EDGE, or similar. Note whether they require normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) contacts per the manual.
- Check wiring continuity: With power off, test continuity of the safety edge circuit from the device back to the control board. Repair or replace any damaged cable sections.
- Test device operation: Activate the safety edge manually and verify that its internal switch changes state (use a multimeter).
- Bypass for diagnosis: Temporarily install a jumper across the NC safety input at the control board. If E08 clears and the opener works, the safety edge or its wiring is faulty and should be replaced.
- Check wireless edge battery: For wireless edges, replace the battery in the transmitter and ensure the receiver is paired correctly.
