How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the door is fully closed or securely supported before attempting to reconnect the trolley.
- Reset trolley: On Craftsman openers, pull the red emergency release cord toward the opener head to reset the latch into the engaged position.
- Run opener: With the door closed, press the wall button. The trolley should move and automatically reconnect to the door arm when it reaches it.
- Inspect latch: If the trolley passes the door arm without engaging, inspect the latch mechanism for broken plastic or bent metal. Replace the trolley if damaged.
- Check alignment: Ensure the rail is straight and the door arm is properly aligned with the trolley path.
