Possible Causes
Misaligned safety sensors, Defective receiving sensor, Broken sensor bracket, Direct sunlight interference
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not continue to use the opener by holding the wall button; this bypasses the safety sensors and can cause injury or damage.
- Check sensor LEDs: Verify that both Craftsman safety sensors have solid LEDs when the door is closing. A blinking or off LED indicates a problem.
- Realign sensors: Loosen the wing nuts and adjust the sensors until both LEDs are solid. Tighten the nuts while holding alignment.
- Inspect brackets: Replace any bent or broken sensor brackets that prevent proper alignment.
- Shield from sunlight: If direct sunlight hits the receiving sensor, install a small shade or move the sensor slightly back on the bracket to reduce glare.
- Replace faulty sensor: If one sensor LED will not light despite good wiring and alignment, replace the sensor pair with a Craftsman-compatible kit.
