Possible Causes

Garage door slide lock engaged on track, Padlock through track or latch, Jamb bracket obstruction, Bent track preventing roller movement

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not continue to run the opener against a locked door; this can strip gears or damage the rail.

Inspect for manual locks:

  • Check door tracks: Look for a slide lock bar on one of the vertical tracks. Ensure the lock handle is in the fully open position and the bar is retracted from the track holes.
  • Remove padlocks: If a padlock is installed through a track hole or lock hasp, remove it before operating the opener.

Check for obstructions:

  • Inspect both vertical tracks for bolts, screws, or debris protruding into the roller path.
  • Verify that all rollers are inside the tracks and not jammed against brackets.

Once the door moves freely by hand, reconnect the opener and clear the error by cycling power. If the opener still reports code 10 with a free door, the force/lock detection circuit on the control board may be faulty.
