Possible Causes

Down limit screw misadjusted, Travel limit encoder out of calibration, Door hitting physical obstruction before limit, Bent door or track causing premature stop

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep people and pets clear of the door. Disconnect power before adjusting mechanical stops or working on the rail.

Adjusting Decko travel limits:

  • Locate limit adjustment: On most Decko openers, there are UP and DOWN travel adjustment screws or dials on the motor head, sometimes labeled “UP LIMIT” and “DOWN LIMIT.” Consult your specific Decko model manual if available.
  • Set door to open position: Reconnect power and run the opener to fully open the door. If it won’t move, disengage the trolley with the emergency release and move the door by hand to full open.
  • Adjust DOWN limit: Turn the DOWN limit screw in small increments (usually clockwise to increase travel). Each quarter-turn typically changes travel by a few inches. Run the door closed with the wall button and observe where it stops.
  • Fine-tune: Repeat small adjustments until the door stops just at the floor, compressing the bottom seal slightly but not forcing the door.
  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the tracks, rollers, and floor area for any object or raised concrete that might stop the door early. Remove or correct any obstruction.
  • Test safety reversal: Place a 2x4 board flat on the floor under the door and close it. The door should reverse within 2 seconds of contacting the board. If not, adjust force settings as described in the manual.

If the opener still shows code 2 after proper limit adjustment and no obstructions, the internal travel sensor or logic board may be faulty.
