Possible Causes

Broken or disconnected antenna wire, Radio frequency interference, Failed internal RF receiver module, Remote not programmed to opener

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep the door area clear while testing remotes. Disconnect power before opening the motor housing.

Basic checks:

  • Verify wall control: If the wall button operates the door, the opener itself is functional.
  • Check lock function: Some Decko wall consoles have a “lock” or “vacation” button that disables remotes. Ensure this is not engaged.

Inspect antenna:

  • Locate the thin antenna wire hanging from the opener head.
  • Ensure it is not cut, coiled tightly, or tucked inside the housing. Straighten it downward for best reception.

Reprogram remotes:

  • Press and release the “LEARN” or “PROGRAM” button on the Decko opener head (LED will light or blink).
  • Within 30 seconds, press the button on the remote you wish to program until the opener light blinks or clicks.
  • Test the remote from various distances.

Check for interference:

  • Turn off nearby RF sources (LED bulbs, Wi-Fi extenders, etc.) temporarily to see if range improves.

If remotes still do not work and code 8 persists, the RF receiver board or main logic board may need replacement.
