Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the opener before inspecting wiring. If you smell burning or see smoke, do not reapply power—call a professional.
Isolate accessories:
- Disconnect wall control wires: Remove the two low-voltage wires from the wall button terminals at the opener head. Plug in the opener and try operating with the built-in button (if present).
- If the opener now runs, the wall control wiring or button is shorted. Inspect the cable for staples or damage and replace as needed.
- Disconnect safety sensor wires: Remove the sensor wires from the opener terminals and test again. If the code clears, inspect and replace damaged sensor wiring.
Check motor:
- If the code appears as soon as the motor tries to start, even with all accessory wiring removed, the motor or control board may be shorted.
Do not continue resetting and testing if the unit repeatedly trips overcurrent protection. Motor or board replacement on Decko units is typically a level-4/5 repair and may be best handled by a technician.
