Possible Causes
Misadjusted FAAC limit switches, Broken limit switch wiring, Failed magnetic encoder on motor, Corroded limit switch contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power. Support the door with locking pliers on the tracks or a prop to prevent movement.
- Check mechanical limits: On FAAC chain or belt drive openers, locate the limit switch assembly or cams on the rail. Ensure the cams are not loose and are correctly positioned for fully open and fully closed positions.
- Inspect limit switch wiring: Trace the cable from the limit switches or encoder back to the FAAC control board. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or loose connectors. Reseat any plug-in connectors.
- Clean contacts: If using mechanical micro-switches, lightly clean the actuator area and ensure the switch lever is not bent or jammed.
- Reprogram travel limits (if encoder-based): Follow the FAAC manual to enter programming mode and reset open/close limits. Typically this involves holding the SET or PROG button until LEDs flash, then running a full open and close cycle.
- Test operation: Restore power and run a test cycle. If E2 returns immediately and the motor does not move, the encoder or limit switch assembly is likely defective and should be replaced.
Do not repeatedly force the door if the opener stops at the same point; this can damage the motor and rail.
