Possible Causes
Obstructed safety beam, Misaligned Garador photocell sensors, Faulty photocell wiring harness, Failed photocell transmitter or receiver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power to the Garador operator before touching wiring. Do not work under a suspended door unless it is fully supported or clamped to the tracks.
Step-by-step:
- Check for obstructions: Remove any objects, cobwebs, leaves, or tools blocking the infrared beam between the Garador photocell transmitter and receiver near the bottom of the tracks.
- Verify LED indicators: On most Garador photocells, a solid LED indicates alignment; a flashing or off LED indicates misalignment or power loss. Adjust the sensor brackets so the lenses face each other directly.
- Inspect wiring: With power off, check the low-voltage cables from the photocells back to the Garador control board. Look for crushed insulation, loose terminal screws, or broken conductors. Re‑terminate any loose wires and ensure polarity matches the wiring diagram on the cover.
- Test bypass (if allowed by local regulations): Temporarily bridge the photocell input terminals at the control board with a short insulated jumper wire. Restore power and test the opener. If E1 clears and the door runs, the fault is in the photocells or their wiring. Remove the jumper after testing and restore proper safety devices.
- Replace faulty photocell: If one sensor has no LED even with correct wiring, replace the complete Garador photocell kit (transmitter and receiver) and re‑align.
When to stop: If the error persists after wiring and sensor replacement, the control board input circuit may be damaged. Contact a qualified Garador technician.
