Possible Causes
Close limit set too high, Door hitting a hard stop (high floor, weather seal), Travel module miscalibration, Loose rail or header bracket causing movement
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands and feet away from the bottom of the door while adjusting close limits.
Steps:
- Inspect floor and seal: Check for objects on the floor, thick new weatherstripping, or raised concrete that could stop the door early.
- Adjust close limit: Use the CLOSE LIMIT screw or electronic adjustment buttons to move the close position slightly further down until the door seals but does not press excessively.
- Check rail mounting: Ensure the rail is firmly attached at the header bracket and to the powerhead. Tighten loose bolts that could allow the opener to move instead of the door.
- Relearn travel (if needed): Perform a full travel reprogram per Genie instructions to recalibrate the close position.
