Possible Causes
Failed light relay on control board, Shorted light socket, Incompatible LED bulbs causing feedback, Stuck motion sensor in wall console (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing bulbs or accessing the light socket. Use bulbs within the wattage and type specified by Genie.
Steps:
- Remove bulbs: Take out both light bulbs and restore power. If the error clears, suspect the bulbs or sockets.
- Use approved bulbs: Install Genie-approved LED or incandescent bulbs. Avoid high-wattage or non-garage-rated LEDs.
- Inspect sockets: Look for burned contacts or melted plastic. Replace the Genie light socket assembly if damaged.
- Check wall console: If you have a motion-detecting console, disable the motion feature (per manual) and test. A stuck motion sensor can keep lights on.
- Replace control board: If lights remain stuck on or off regardless of bulbs and console, the light relay on the board has failed; replace the Genie control board.
