Possible Causes
Damaged or disconnected antenna wire, Radio frequency interference, Failed onboard RF receiver, Remote not programmed to Guardian logic board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work with power disconnected when accessing the opener cover or logic board. Use a stable ladder.
- Check antenna: Locate the thin antenna wire hanging from the Guardian opener head. Ensure it is intact, not cut, and hanging straight down, not wrapped around metal brackets.
- Reprogram a remote: Press the “Learn” or “Program” button on the Guardian logic board until the LED blinks. Press the remote button you want to program. Wait for confirmation (LED flash or light blink). Test the remote.
- Test multiple remotes: If none of the remotes work but the wall button does, the RF receiver may be faulty.
- Reduce interference: Move LED bulbs or other RF-noisy devices away from the opener. Use garage-door-rated LED bulbs if possible.
- Replace logic board or external receiver: If the antenna is good and remotes are properly programmed but still not working, replace the Guardian logic board or add a compatible external radio receiver kit.
