Possible Causes
Shorted wall console wiring, Defective Guardian wall control, Miswired push button, Logic board control input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the opener before working on low-voltage wiring. Use a non-metallic ladder near live circuits.
- Inspect wall console: Remove the Guardian wall control from the wall. Check for moisture, corrosion, or crushed wires behind the console.
- Check wiring at opener: At the opener head, verify the wall control wires are on the correct terminals (usually marked “P/B”, “Wall Control”, or similar). Look for shorts between terminals.
- Bypass test: Temporarily disconnect the wall console wires at the opener. Briefly short the wall control terminals with a small insulated jumper wire. If the door operates normally, the wall console or its wiring is faulty.
- Replace wall console: Install a new Guardian-compatible wall control and run new low-voltage wire if the existing cable is damaged.
- Replace logic board if needed: If shorting the terminals does not operate the door and the code persists, the control input on the logic board is likely damaged and the board should be replaced.
