Possible Causes
Bent vertical or horizontal tracks, Worn or seized rollers, Loose track mounting brackets, Door out of square with opening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and release the door from the opener before working on tracks. Use proper supports if the door is open.
- Operate door manually: With the opener disconnected, move the door slowly through its full travel. Note any tight spots or binding.
- Inspect tracks: Look for bends, kinks, or misalignment in the vertical and horizontal tracks. The tracks should be plumb and parallel.
- Adjust brackets: Loosen the track mounting brackets slightly and tap the track into correct alignment using a rubber mallet. Retighten bolts securely.
- Check rollers: Spin each roller by hand. Replace any that are cracked, wobbly, or seized with compatible nylon or steel rollers.
- Re-test with opener: Reconnect the opener and test. If the door now moves smoothly, the reversal issue should be resolved.
