Possible Causes

Blocked safety beam, Misaligned photocell brackets, Damaged photocell wiring harness, Failed photocell sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the Henderson garage door opener at the breaker before touching wiring. Do not operate the door if the safety beams are bypassed or not working.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Inspect for obstructions: Look along the bottom of the door tracks for toys, tools, leaves, or debris blocking the infrared safety beams. Clear anything in the beam path.
  • Check LED indicators: On most Henderson photocell pairs, one side is the sender and the other is the receiver. Confirm both photocell LEDs are lit solid when the beam is clear. A flashing or off LED indicates misalignment or wiring issues.
  • Realign the photocells: Loosen the mounting screws on the photocell brackets attached to the vertical track. Gently rotate and tilt the sensors until both LEDs stay solid. Tighten the screws while holding alignment.
  • Inspect wiring harness: Trace the low‑voltage wires from the photocells back to the Henderson opener head. Look for staples through the wire, cuts, or loose connections at the terminal block. Reseat wires and tighten terminal screws.
  • Test operation: Restore power and try closing the door with the wall control. If E1 clears and the door closes normally, the issue is resolved.
  • If still faulty: Swap the photocell pair with a known‑good Henderson compatible set. If the error clears, replace the defective Henderson safety photocell kit.
