Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power to the Henderson opener. Do not bypass safety beams for regular use; only temporarily for testing and with the door fully open and secured.
Diagnostic steps:
- Check photocell LEDs: If both photocell LEDs are off, suspect a wiring or power issue. If only one is lit, the receiver side may not be getting power or signal.
- Inspect wiring run: Follow the two‑conductor cable from each photocell back to the opener head. Look for crushed insulation, pinch points at track brackets, or damage near the ceiling.
- Verify terminal connections: At the Henderson control board, remove and reinsert the safety beam wires into the designated terminals (often labeled PHOTO or with beam icons). Tighten screws firmly.
- Continuity test: With power off, disconnect the photocell wires at both ends and use a multimeter to check continuity of each conductor. Replace the cable if open or shorted.
- Board input test: If wiring and photocells test good but E2 persists, the safety beam input on the Henderson control PCB may be defective. Replacement of the control board is typically required.
Note: After repair, perform a full safety reversal test with an object under the door to confirm proper operation.
