Possible Causes
Door too heavy or jammed, Motor winding partially shorted, Mechanical binding in operator rail, Incorrect spring tension on door
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. A jammed or unbalanced door can fall suddenly; do not attempt spring adjustments yourself.
Step-by-step:
- Check door movement: Release the operator and move the door manually. If it is very heavy or will not stay halfway open, the torsion or extension springs are out of adjustment. Contact a qualified door technician.
- Inspect operator rail: Look for bent rail sections, foreign objects in the rail, or a seized carriage. Lubricate the carriage slider lightly if recommended by Hormann.
- Check for overheating: If the operator has been cycled many times in a short period, allow it to cool for 15–30 minutes and try again.
- Test with door disconnected: With the door disengaged, run the operator alone. If the error still appears, the motor or gearbox is likely failing.
- Do not increase force excessively: Avoid masking a mechanical problem by turning up force settings; this is unsafe.
