Possible Causes
Failed RPM sensor, disconnected RPM sensor harness, seized motor or gear assembly, failed motor capacitor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing covers or touching internal components. Keep hands clear of moving parts.
- Check for mechanical binding: Pull the emergency release cord to disconnect the door from the opener. Manually lift and lower the door. If the door is heavy or binds, have the door springs and hardware serviced before running the opener again.
- Inspect the RPM sensor: Remove the opener cover. Locate the RPM sensor near the motor shaft or gear assembly. Ensure the sensor bracket is not bent and the sensor wheel (encoder) is intact and not rubbing.
- Check wiring: Verify the RPM sensor harness is fully seated on the logic board and at the sensor. Look for pinched or broken wires.
- Test operation: Restore power and briefly press the wall button. If the motor hums but does not turn, suspect a failed motor capacitor or seized motor.
- Replace parts as needed: If the motor shaft turns freely by hand but the opener still shows this LED pattern, replace the RPM sensor assembly. If the motor is stiff or noisy, the motor or gear assembly may need replacement.
Note: Incorrect RPM feedback will prevent the opener from running to protect the system.
