Possible Causes

Wall control light button latched on, motion-detect feature enabled, stuck relay on logic board, shorted light circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Avoid using oversized bulbs that can overheat the housing.

  • Check wall control: Press the light button to toggle the light off. Some models have a motion sensor that keeps the light on when motion is detected.
  • Disable motion temporarily: On motion-sensing wall controls, turn off the motion feature and see if the light begins to time out normally.
  • Power cycle: Unplug the opener for 60 seconds and plug back in to reset the relay.
  • Replace logic board: If the light remains on regardless of controls, the light relay on the board may be stuck closed and the board should be replaced.
