Possible Causes
Photo eyes not functioning, Close limit already considered reached, Faulty close relay on board, Miswired external close inhibit input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the opening clear while testing. Do not bypass safety devices permanently.
- 1. Verify sensors: Confirm both photo eye LEDs are lit and aligned. Repair as needed.
- 2. Reset opener: Disconnect power for 30 seconds, then restore. Try a close command again.
- 3. Check external inputs: If external controls (loops, key switches) are connected, temporarily disconnect them to rule out a stuck close inhibit signal.
- 4. Reprogram limits: If the opener thinks it is already at the close limit, re-learn the travel limits per the Linear manual.
- 5. Replace control board: If none of the above restores closing, the close control circuitry on the board may be defective.
