Possible Causes
Stripped internal drive gear, Worn worm gear on motor shaft, Excessive door load causing gear damage, Lack of lubrication in gear housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the opener and ensure the door is supported before disassembling the head unit.
- 1. Disconnect door: Pull the emergency release and move the door to a safe closed position.
- 2. Open the operator housing: Remove the cover from the Linear opener to access the internal gear assembly.
- 3. Inspect gears: Look for plastic shavings, missing teeth on the large drive gear, or a worn worm gear on the motor shaft.
- 4. Replace gear kit: Obtain the correct Linear gear and sprocket kit for your model. Remove the old gears, clean out debris, and install new gears following the kit instructions. Apply the supplied grease to the gear teeth.
- 5. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the cover, reconnect power, and run the opener without the door attached to verify smooth operation. Then reconnect the door and test full travel.
