Possible Causes
Failed internal power supply on control board, Loose line voltage connections, Tripped GFCI or breaker, Shorted accessory drawing down low-voltage bus
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the operator. Only qualified persons should work on line-voltage wiring.
- 1. Verify power source: Check that the outlet has 120 VAC using a plug-in tester or multimeter. Reset any tripped GFCI or breaker.
- 2. Inspect power cord and plug: Look for cuts, burns, or loose blades. Replace the cord set if damaged.
- 3. Disconnect accessories: Remove low-voltage connections for external devices (keypads, loop detectors, add-on receivers) from the Linear control board. Restore power and see if F8 clears, indicating a shorted accessory.
- 4. Inspect control board: With power off, remove the cover and look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or darkened areas on the board. If present, the board is likely defective.
- 5. Replace control board: If the power source is good and F8 persists with all accessories disconnected, replace the main control board with the correct Linear replacement part.
